Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on the Rise

WITH IPF EVERY BREATH COUNTS

WHAT WE DO

How We're Helping

"I feel compelled to act...If not for myself then for the thousands of others that fall victim to this insidious disease without warning or cause every year. We must help support research and move closer to better treatments and ultimately a cure..."

Steve Kivlen, founder of IPFCURE.COM and an IPF victim, has started this foundation to raise awareness and to fund research leading to a cure for a terminal breathing disorder that takes as many lives every year as breast cancer.

What Is IPF?

Pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it more difficult for a person's lungs to work properly. As pulmonary fibrosis worsens, an individual becomes progressively more short of breath. The scarring associated with pulmonary fibrosis can be caused by a multitude of factors. In most cases, doctors can't pinpoint what's causing the problem. When a cause can't be found, the condition is termed idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The lung damage caused by pulmonary fibrosis can't be repaired, but medications and therapies can sometimes help ease symptoms and improve quality of life. For some people, a lung transplant might be appropriate but for most IPF is a death sentence.

Thank You

IPF is spreading incredibly fast in America and many other parts of the world. No one conclusively knows why. This savage disease affects not just older folks but younger people now as well. Very few have even heard of IPF. Whether you help with a monetary donation or accelerate IPF awareness  online or through word-of-mouth, thank you so much. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
